Vehicle Compatibility

This RGB conversion kit is intended for selected BMW 4 Series, M3 and M4 LCI / facelift vehicles fitted with the matching Adaptive LED headlight system and original 63117493229 / 63117493230 module configuration.

Compatibility depends on the actual headlight and LED-board configuration fitted, rather than chassis code or registration year alone. This kit is intended for matching LCI Adaptive LED headlights.

These references are provided for identification purposes. Always compare the actual board shape, connector configuration and original headlight components before installation.

Installation Overview

1. Prepare the vehicle.
   Follow the appropriate BMW workshop procedure for safe preparation. Record the original DRL operation and complete the pre-fit test before removing the original boards. Switch off the ignition and lighting and isolate the vehicle as required before dismantling or fitting components.
2. Check the original DRLs.
   Before removing anything, operate the factory DRLs and record any existing colour difference, brightness difference, flickering or warning messages.
3. Pre-test all 4 replacement boards.
   Connect all four RGB boards through the supplied controller and wiring harness. Test solid Red, Green, Blue and dedicated White mode. Confirm that corresponding boards display matching colour and brightness.
4. Compare the original LED boards.
   Check board shape, mounting locations, connector type and module references before removing the original components.
5. Install the RGB replacement boards.
   Fit each replacement board in the correct original mounting location. Ensure every board is fully seated and secured.
6. Connect the supplied wiring loom and RGB controller.
   Ensure every connector is fully seated and that no wiring is trapped, stretched or routed against sharp or hot components.
7. Test again before final reassembly.
   With the replacement boards installed, repeat the Red, Green, Blue and White tests. Confirm that the Angel Eye rings illuminate evenly and that both headlights match in colour and brightness.
8. Complete reassembly.
   Only after the system has passed the pre-reassembly test should the headlights be fully closed/resealed and the bumper or other removed components refitted. Refit all covers, seals and fasteners correctly to prevent moisture ingress.
9. Carry out a final function check.
   Confirm white DRL operation, app control and all other headlight functions before handing the vehicle back. Investigate any uneven or incorrect operation.

Smartphone App Control

The RGB controller is operated using a compatible smartphone app. The app provides colour selection, brightness adjustment, dedicated white mode, static and colour-changing effects, music-reactive functions and timer controls.

A printed quick installation guide is supplied with the kit. Scan the QR code shown below using your smartphone to access the compatible RGB lighting control app.

Using White & Colour Modes

The RGB system provides a dedicated white DRL mode together with selectable RGB colours, brightness adjustment and lighting effects.

Available colours include white, red, green, blue, cyan, purple, pink, yellow / amber and intermediate colours selected using the app colour wheel.

Troubleshooting

One or more RGB boards do not illuminate

Switch the system off and check the affected LED-board connector and wiring. Ensure all plugs are fully seated and compare the connection with the corresponding board on the opposite headlight.

One Angel Eye ring is a different colour

Stop before final reassembly. Test solid Red, Green, Blue and White again. A partially seated multi-pin connector or poor connection can interrupt one of the colour channels.

The Angel Eye rings have uneven brightness

Check that every LED board is correctly positioned, fully seated and secured in its intended mounting location. Compare the corresponding board and ring on the opposite headlight. If the difference remains, contact HIDS-DIRECT before proceeding.

The controller does not operate

Check the vehicle-side harness connection, RGB controller plugs and LED-board loom. Ensure every connector is fully locked into position.

The smartphone app cannot find the controller

Confirm that the controller is powered through the installed vehicle harness, open the compatible app and retry the connection from close range.

The displayed colour is incorrect

Test solid Red, Green, Blue and dedicated White mode. Check all LED-board and controller connections and ensure that no connector is partially inserted.

Flickering or intermittent operation

Switch the system off and inspect the plugs, pins and wiring for poor contact, trapped cables or strained connections. Do not complete installation until stable operation is confirmed.
